Joined by the co-founder and CEO of MAPINFO, one of the largest mapping companies in the world, this early online real estate innovation became the first nationwide licensed deployment of USPTO 5032989 and 4870576, "Real Estate Search and Location System and Method". |

| PATENT LICENSE: | Although merely an early licensee of the patents which are owned by Real Estate Alliance Limited (REAL inc), EQUIAS has found itself embroiled in an unprecedented industry-wide backlash against the patent-holder led by the NAR and REALTOR.com. According to some reports, the industry has helped coordinate a legal war chest of nearly $10 million dollars to fight against this patent holder. Legal costs of this magnitude may exceed even the legal defense costs for REALTOR.com's Executive Team who were all eventually convicted on numerous counts of Fraud. In 2004, while considering augmenting the license rights to these early patents, Scott Tatro spoke with counsel for the NAR. In addition to the NAR's own counsel having earlier advised the organization that it should acquire a license to the REAL patents, Mr. Tatro was told that it was apparent "that most agents' listings appeared on one or more sites that pretty much follow the claims of the patents". The reason given to Mr. Tatro as to why the National Association of Realtors, an organization to which Tatro was a member, did not take a license was because "they felt that the patent holder was too small to enforce the patents". Knowing that the patent holder was renewing its efforts to enforce its legal rights within the real estate industry, Tatro fearing the worst, aggressively negotiated with the patent holders for additional licensing rights. FindaHome.com was formed to provide an attractive business alternative to expensive legal or licensing fees by bundling the license into a brand new advanced mapping technology. Within a short time FindaHome.com was introduced into the market, and was met with rave reviews throughout the industry. Although intended as a direct competitor to REALTOR.com, the NAR and MOVE inc's efforts have forced EQUIAS to suspend its MLS broker network model and to make its valuable technology available directly to the Agent Community. |
